At the end of June, New Dream won an award from the social marketing community for research on holiday waste reduction conducted by New Dream's Behavior and Social Change Fellow Kelley Dennings for her master's thesis. Kelley accepted the Millbank Award for Innovation in the Environmental Field on behalf of New Dream at the 2018 Social Marketing Conference convened by the University of South Florida.

The award honors an organization whose social marketing work has profoundly impacted an environmental issue. New Dream was recognized, out of 11 other nominations, for the formative research that was conducted around the barriers to giving an experiential gift and the measurable results achieved (83% of participants gave an experiential gift after pledging to give that type of gift).
